Jamie B asked:

I’ve just bought a new Macbook 2.4Ghz 160gb but i want to transfer some files from my powerbook g4 to my new macbook. I don’t have firewire but can i do it by ethernet. Both Mac’s have airport and are connected to the same modem wirelessly. Is there anyway i can transfer files that way?

Usually when you start the operating system for the first time, it asks you if you want to transfer from another Mac. If you say yes, you connect the two with a firewire cable and it will clone your old machine.
Otherwise just transfer the files onto a USB disk/memory stick and move them that way. There is no compatibility problem

    Yes there is!
If both computers are on the same wireless network just go to:
System preferences > Sharing and then activate file sharing. Then you shouldd be able to find you computers on finder and to access them remotly!

The easiest way is to use your Ethernet network and the Migration Assistant that is included in OS X.

You can find instructions on using the Migration Assistant here.

Migration Assistant. All you need is a Firewire cable that you can connect to each Mac. Just run Migration Assistant and any files and applications and settings you wish to have transferred will be transferred to your new Mac.
